Aurora wasn’t sure she was doing the right thing, but that didn’t really matter all that much. She had torn her mind apart thinking over this course of action and wondering whether or not it was even her place to intervene. For one thing she knew it was common knowledge that she and Godric Emerindyl did not get along. For another she was a Prefect and it was her responsibility to report her concerns to her head of house. Further to this she was in the Ameraid house and so Headmaster Emerindyl was not necessarily the right person to go to, not as far as the school ledger was concerned, though he was Godric's father, and she was not report Godric for being an unmitigated ass, she was concerned about him, and that concern could not be conveyed to anyone else. It was far too embarrassing.
Aurora had only been to this office a couple of times and never because she was in trouble. She had hand delivered some notes to the Headmaster throughout her seven years at Koalingo but that was only ever the limit of her visitation here. She knew where the entrance to the office was though and she knew that trick with the door; an invisible door knob on the other side of the door; anyone who used the visible knob only ever found a broom closet. She knocked on the door twice before turning the knob and entering slowly. As usual the office looked deserted, though Aurora knew that it could not possibly be. Her eyes looked about for the little imp she knew would have to be there, but fell upon no pudgy little figure with wiry hair and potato like face.
The room itself was fascinating. Aurora knew that the book shelves that lined the walls must hold texts that even Amberley Ameraid had never been made privy to. Aurora knew that her house head was still rebuilding a trust with the Headmaster and the other founders that had been lost not seven years ago. Aurora had been in the first grade at the time, but her memories of the event were sharp. Since then the story had changed and changed again as it was passed down to future generations. This was why no one trusted anyone in the Ameraid house. This was why despite the most open of accusations were aimed at Jay Rastan, deep down everyone accused Ameraid. And everyone knew it.
Amberley came to stop at the front of the desk and looked about without moving, “Headmaster?” she called out rather meekly.
