Amberley Ameraid moved through the Golden Hall admiring the many Christmas trees spaced equally throughout. She was wearing a frosted lavender gown to celebrate the season with her lengthy hair in a high knot decorated without countless star shaped clips too small for the eye to recognise but large enough to catch the candlelight that flicked throughout the hall. The school year was coming to an end, though the terrors that had occurred would never be forgotten.
The soft hum of Christmas carols permeated the hall more than the candlelight and the low murmur of students speaking among themselves complimented the joyousness of the season. Amberley made for the staff table which was decorated with garlands of holly, poinsettia, and pine branches with pinecones painted gold, red, and green, enchanted to change between the three at intervals in tune with the Christmas carols.
The Christmas feast that was to take place tonight marked both the end of the school year and farewell to those students who would be leaving to pursue adulthood beyond learning. Beyond the walls of the Manor where their learning would rely entirely upon their own motivation and not upon the guidance of their house heads. Amberley was always concerned that the potential of her students would not be recognised after they left her house.
Reaching the Professor’s table Amberley came to sit on the left hand side of Lord Ruberagon, whom was already in place with Lord Emerindyl to his right, and Lady Saphricorn beyond that. The food had not yet appeared, but then the students were not all in place anyway. They would wait a moment, in the meantime Amberley would be forced to socialise with the other staff.
