The limitations of a school week made a lot of the free time Rea had, somewhat boring. The four walls... well the many many many walls, were like a prison and while Rea could run around the castle all year without ever crossing her previous path and still have plenty more to investigate, she couldn’t help but feel a dismal amount of boredom on her days off. She had in fact had a remedial class that morning with Professor Callus, who had informed her that she was failing Arithmancy and needed to work harder on it if she hoped to pass into the seventh year version of the class.
Naturally her parents were outraged by her lack of attentiveness in this class, as they both found Arithmancy to be of the upmost importance. In fact they had been the ones to force her into the class and without their demands, she’d honestly not have bothered. Sttrolling away from the classroom contentedly she knew that no one else would be up yet, well at least no one else from the Emerindyl house. The quidditch match the day before had seen Saphricorn the victors over Emerindyl for the first time that year. While Emerindyl had been disappointed by the loss, the friendship between the two houses was so that they could not really be that disappointed, and the partying went on well into the night.
Rea had avoided the celebrations. She didn’t really think the bonds of fellowship between the two houses were as strong as they used to be, and besides, if she had to see Mariana again she might just lose her stomach and people would think she had had too much butterbeer to drink. She smirked at that thought and continued down the lengty corridor, her school boots clicking on the cold cobbled stone as she walked.
Rounding a corner she came to a section of the hallway that was open to the outside. The air was crisp and she leant over the freezing stone banister to gaze out onto the grounds. It was breathtaking. The moment itself seemed absolutely perfect. Without a soul to ruin it. That was of course until she felt the sudden presence of someone behind her...

"You rise early for an Emerindyl," Tye said, knowing full and well the girl might feel the same about him. And why not? Considering that he was a part of the Saphricorn Quidditch team and given how they had absolutely hammered the Emerindyl team the day before. He sniggered at the thought of that, stopping to smile his most charming smile at the Emerindyl. He'd heard about this one, he knew there was something he should be concerned about, something was causing alarm bells to go off in his head.
"Of course there is no shirking the duties of the animals," he explained. The only reason he was up was because of his duties in the farm yards on the Saphricorn plains and once he'd finished, the smell in his bedroom of celebration and sweat turned his stomach. He would avoid his bedroom as long as he could, and why not spend the morning taking a jog around the castle before anyone else was up to get in his way. Tye smiled and leant on the stone bannister feeling the coldness of it reach in through his clothes and seep into the depths of his skin. It prickled a little and he winced silently.
"But then I have never seen any reason for an Emerindyl to be early, or even on time for anything, so where's the fire?" he smiled. Joking around with the girl would let her know that despite her relationship with other members of his house; it was none of his business and he was not about to make an issue of it. He reached his arms up towards the sky and continued to stretch in the way someone who was doing their morning excercise might. He yawned just a little bit and realised at once that he would probably need a nap before the day was out.
Yeah right.
The son wa creeping over the horizon and the crisp air smelt fantastic. He knew why Rea was at this spot. If for no other reason then because it was breathtaking.
"What an appropriate way to spend the early hours of the morning, dont you agree?" he aimed a harming smile at her again, trying to get her to talk with him.

'I'm not up because I want to be,' she told him rather tartly. She didnt have a reason to be rude to this boy specifically. In fact if she really wanted to be honest with herself she had to admit she didnt even know who this guy was. A lacky of Jay Rastan perhaps. But then, if he was in Saphricorn house... which he was, then didn't that automatically make him a lacky of Jay Rastan... which... now that she thought about it, meant that he probably knew Mariana Torrenne... she wondered deep in the depths of her mind if he would bring up the subject of Mariana. Sighing she realised she wouldnt even have the energy to argue with him if he did.
'Animal duties,' it wasnt a question, she knew what he was talking about, but felt it to be somewhat amusing nonetheless. Animal duties could be twisted to sound funny if she could be bothered. As it was it sufficed to smile and giggle quietly without elaborating. She remained where she leant on the stone bannister and looked out upon the grounds, so long as he didnt start talking about something she had energy enough to argue about, this moment would remain perfect. So she wasnt going to do anything to make it less pleasing.
'Perhaps,' she answered his question falsely as she did agree with him wholeheartedly. This was the most perfect way she could think of to spend a morning, but only because she couldnt sleep, like others in her house, she rather enjoyed sleeping in, and nothing could top that at least. 'But then I am awake so what else is there to do this early in the morning, no classes today, and the shuttle for the village does not leave until ten,' she thought about that shuttle a moment.
'Are you planning on going down to the village today, its snowing you know,' of course he would have known, everyone knew it was snowing as it snowed even here in the grounds of the castle. Though there were no slopes within the castle grounds, and anyone who enjoyed skiiing would be on the shuttles when they arrived, they would doubtless be packed.
'Was thinking heading out, I doubt anyone I know will be up for it, they partied until the sun rose this morning, not that I was awake, went to be early,'

‘Good of them to celebrate a loss, don’t you think?’ he jeered in a friendly way that was not supposed to be confronting. He knew the Emerindyl house to be in good cheer after every Quiddith match that wasn’t against Ruberagon, whether they lost or not. The Saphricorn house always partied anyway, and Quidditch was only one of very many excuses for doing so. Not that they needed an excuse when it really came down to it. He looked across at the grounds at the snow and thought about the slopes. He liked to snowboard. Skiiing was not really his thing, he thought it looked awkward and was not a fan of having a stick in each hand to prop himself up. And besides... snowboarding was so much cooler.
‘Though Emerindyl was absolutely hammered in the first quarter so I don’t reckon you guys really thought there was a chance of winning after we were a hundred and fifty points up, even catching the snitch would have cost you the game... though I have to admit old Godric did seem a little distracted,’ Tye liked Godric. Though he had only spoken to him a few times throughout his own time at Koalingo, Godric had always been kind to him and the brotherhood between their two houses (and possibly the fact that Godrics mother was their house founder) it always felt as if Godric was sort of in the Saphricorn house anyway.
‘I was thinking about heading out today actually, my snowboard broke the other weekend though so I need to head into Snow Bored and get myself a new one,’ Snow Bored was the name of the local snow gear dealer. It was a muggle establishment but the owners had an agreement with the ministry of magic to accept both currency’s and so most of their clientel were from the school anyway. Not that they knew more than that some of its customers paid with a different type of money that was ultimately more valuable then muggle currency anyway.
‘if you’re heading down I’d be happy to join you, I doubt anyone I know will be up to a day out anyway, at least not until this afternoon, maybe late this afternoon,’ he smiled. This was heading in a direction he had not expected.
