Bartholomew gained the middle of the duelling arena when everyone had finally assembled after the second match had finished. He was looking forward to this next match, having heard word of the skills of this particular Ruberagon student, he was interested to see it dirst hand, “Quiet you dogs!” he shouted, everyone had been drinking for the bulk of the night and were beginning to become a little rowdy, “Quiet and we’ll continue to the third duel for the evening,”
“Again like before this arena will be magically protected throughout the next duel, and will stop any rogue hexes from escaping and harming onlookers,” he said as he tossed a disarming charm at the crowd. At once a wall rose from the line around the arena and caught it. He smiled and looked around to make sure everyone who should be here was here.
“And so, without further ado, please welcome the second duel of the evening, Miss Kalika Gardan, a talented Ruberagon student from the school, in her seventh year,” he shouted to the cheers of many Ruberagon supporters. He knew he could expect the audience to get rowdy when it came to Ruberagon students being involved. Fortunately there was a Ruberagon student in each of the nights duels, which mean we could expect some audience input.
“And on the other end, a seventh year we’ve not heard of here in our pleasant little place of entertainment,” he grinned wondering if anyone might understand his innuendo, “Miss Aurora Celeste, a seventh year from the house of Ameraid,” there was a hushed silence that followed his announcement that this girl was from the Ameraid house. Everyone knew how talented they were, but rarely did anyone see them in action.
“The rules of the duel, which must be stated before each duel; are as follows,” he said looking around and seeing all the crowds faces fall, obviously shocked that there would be any rules at all, “There are no rules,” he finished and the crowd roared, “Though,” he added and everyone fell silent, “As you are students… I suppose we should add that Ministry appointed illegal curses are not allowed,” there was much booing from the crowd, though Bartholomew knew they couldn’t have expected more. Didn’t stop a couple of people from getting up and walking out though.
“Toss of the coin ladies?” he said looking from one to the other, heads or tails? Who goes first”
((ALL COMPETITORS READ: Basically this is how the entire duel will play out, you will each say heads or tails at the end of each of your posts, if your choice is made your spell will hit your opponent, if not, it will miss them, or they will block it, when you play the block, the miss, or the hit, you will then play your return. So to get started, heads or tails? And we will decide who goes first))

Aurora walked from where she stood preparing herself for the duel. Tonight she was clad in deep violet silk. The duelling robes were chosen to be flexible and easy to move in. Aurora stalking out onto the duelling arena her black locks died back tightly onto her head. Her darkening eyes glinting with anticipation as she took her place in the middle of her half of the arena.
Everything rested on this moment. Or did it? People seemed to place a lot of importance on the outcome of these duels. Would they decide her future? Unlikely. Would they help her find out who she was? Also unlikely. People often say it takes something shocking to find one’s true self. She thought about that for a moment; what was she really? Given the chance would she do what she needed to do to make sure Kalika did not outperform her in the duel.
She knew of the girl. She knew Kalika was pretty obviously a Ruberagon. Everything about her screamed arrogance, ignorance, and a need for a firm grasp on her own self-importance. Aurora did not dislike the girl. But she also did not like her. Kalika was of no moment normally. And tonight would be no different; she was simply another hurdle in Aurora’s life. Practice for whatever the future might hold for her.
Aurora drew out her wand for her own inspection. She knew it was in excellent condition. After a moment she put it back in the pocket she had designed in her silky robes simply for this purpose. She knew she did not have to have her wand away at the beginning of the duel, though she was confident in her speed. She would land the first attack, she was sure of it.

Kalika stood to her full height on her side of the duelling ring. She wore a black cloak with a deep hood to shield her eyes. Though she could see very well, it made it difficult for her opponent to see her face. Starting from the bottom of the robe, and curling upwards was a serpent looking dragon, blood red in color. The robe was loose and comfortable but not to the point that it would become a nuisance.
She had been looking forward to this duel since she had signed up to participate. Not that it was by any means a crucial fight but more as a way to sharpen her teeth (so to speak) on her opponent.
Which happened to be the Ameraid, Aurora Celeste. She had no real run-ins with the girl that she could recall and obviously had dislike for her only for the fact that she associated with the 'sub-wizards' as Kalika referred to muggle borns and half-bloods. She knew that Aurora Celeste was prehaps one of the most knowledgeable and skilled witches in Ameraid house, which made the duel all the more better in Kalika's eyes. The tougher the opponent, the bigger the challenge.
But who's to say that Aurora would even be a challenge for Kalika? Every fiber in her body ignited with the anticipation of the curse casting... in all honesty, Kalika was out to destroy. And if the Ameraid was her first victim of the night, then so be it.
Kalika touched her fingertips to the amulet around her neck. Since being able to harness it, she had no real need for a wand since the amulet was now her source of power. All she waited for now was the announcement of who would cast first.
But one thing was for certain, Kalika would not walk away the loser in this duel.

Aurora nodded just before the sound of the bell signifying the beginning of the Duel. She bowed her head dutifully to Kalika Gardan. She had thought a lot about the first spell she would use tonight and what the desired affect might be. She didn’t really want to hurt Kalika right off the bat, though something like that at such a crucial point might have held. Nevethless that was not the choice she made.
As soon as the bell sounded, and without a hint of warning Aurora’s hand whipped to her wand in a movement that would never be seen in later recollections even when slowed down. She had prepared well for drawing her wand and before her opponent had reached for her wand Aurora brought her wand up slashing the air. A line of purple cut through it as she reached the highest point of Kalika’s chest and chanted “Locomotor Mortis!” There was the sound of gushing air from the end of her wand and a fanning breeze of purple as the leg-locking hex burst from the end of it. With any luck it would see true and her opponent would be hopping around like an idiot.

((Tails - at this point this means that Aurora's curse will function upon Kalika as it should. Kalika is to play being hit by this curse at full strength, it's affects will last for your entire turn though will wear off on your next turn. Aurora also wins a point for a successful hit. You will have to reach five points for a win.))

Before Kalika could even react, Aurora's wand was out and the leg locking curse was being hurled at her. She tried to dodge the curse but was hit dead on. Kalika scowled as she bounced around trying to regain balance. At one point Kalika almost lost her balance entirely and had it not been for a quick chant to help steady herself she was almost sure that she would be greeted with uproarious laughter at the haughty Kalika falling smack dab on her face.
Even if she didn't fall, the leg locking curse was making her look like a fool, so much so that she heard giggles from all around the club, from people in opposing houses as well as some from her very own from people that she had belittled. Needless to say the Ruberagon was a bit more then furious at not only being beaten to the punch but also for being made a mockery in front of a rather large audience of people.
Finally steady, though not really being able to move lest another curse come at her, Kalika clutched the amulet around her neck and muttered an incantation. The amulet glowed a brilliant red then turned darker, as if blood were swirling around in the ruby at the heart of the heirloom. Suddenly a dark red dragon errupted from the ruby. The dragon's form was made entirely of fire though the whole thing was about as big as an anaconda. The dragon set fire to anything it touched and it hurtled straight for the Ameraid as Kalika looked on, a dead stare blanketing her face.

Aurora gasped with pain as the fire from the dragon brushed over her. It sent needles of sharp shots through her body and she almost fell over as she waited for the pain to subside. The curse had lasted long enough to leave blackened marks on her skin and she knew that once the duel was done she would need to see the school doctor for a skin scraping. She smiled despite herself as she looked back at Kalika, now aware of what this girl was capable of. She wouldn’t be wasting her turn on a leg-locker curse this time.
“Lecarnem Inflamare” she chanted and aimed her spell directly at Kalika. This spell was not designed to shoot fire at its victim, but more to engulf their clothing in fire. It was more done in a need to burn ones belongings, and cause discomfort as more synthetic materials usually melted to the skin of the person wearing them.
If Kalika wanted to play with fire, Aurora would show her that two could definitely play that game. She spied her opponent knowing she would be feeling rather triumphant about getting one in, though Aurora would make her regret the day that she showed up to a match up against Aurora Celeste.
She drew the air with her wand on exactly which parts of Kalika’s clothing she wanted to set on fire. Her collar was a good place to start. Her feet, mid section and pants, all over the place really. Even if the spell did not manage to do as she pleased, Kalika would have a hard time putting it out. And watching her do that would be funny enough.

Kalika closed her eyes and breathed deeply trying to concentrate all of her self control into not screaming in agony as the fire engulfed her. She felt the sticky burning pain of the material of her robe melting into her flesh as she muttered to herself the creed of her family 'Dominatio Per Malum'. It was all she could do to keep herself from falling onto the floor though she felt she would be close to writhing in agony. After a few moments, and though she was still in immense pain, Kalika collected herself enough to chant a spell to stop the fire and restore the material of her robe. So the Ameraid wanted to play with fire?
Kalika had only just begun to duel and she had been saving her most powerful curses for later in the fight. She knew that the spells from both her and Aurora would only increase in power, and for that, her most devastating curses would be saved for last.
Drawing herself to her full height (after recoiling somewhat from the blow she had just recieved) Kalika again clutched the amulet of the heirloom she wore. She thrust the amulet into the air and sneered as she muttered "provectus sectumsempra" Which was the most advanced incantation of that spell. The cuts would be deeper, more blood would be drawn. Kalika glided around slashing the air with her amulet, marking the places where cuts would form over Aurora's body.
It was time to let this game really begin...
