Bartholomew gained the middle of the duelling arena when everyone had finally assembled after the first match had well and truly ended. This would be the second duel for the evening, “Welcome back, I hope everyone enjoyed that brief interlude, but then let us move on, the second duel for the evening is about to commence,” Bartholomew said, holding his wand to his mouth as it amplified his voice across the arena and into the stands.
“Again like before this arena will be magically protected throughout the next duel, and will stop any rogue hexes from escaping and harming onlookers,” he said as he tossed a disarming charm at the crowd. At once a wall rose from the line around the arena and caught it. He smiled and looked around to make sure everyone who should be here was here.
“And so, without further ado, please welcome the second duel of the evening, Mr Romulus Silvia, a Ruberagon student from the school, in his seventh year,” he shouted to the cheers of many Ruberagon supporters. He knew he could expect the audience to get rowdy when it came to Ruberagon students being involved. Fortunately there was a Ruberagon student in each of the nights duels, which mean we could expect some audience input.
“And on the other end, as fiery as a seventh year, though not there just yet, the son of wizards too good for the wizarding world,” he grinned wondering if anyone might understand his innuendo, “Mr Alex Zander, a sixth year from the house of Emerindyl,” he did not expect as much noise as he got at this point. Though it was a little more subdued then Romulus’ introduction, it was enough.
“The rules of the duel, which must be stated before each duel; are as follows,” he said looking around and seeing all the crowds faces fall, obviously shocked that there would be any rules at all, “There are no rules,” he finished and the crowd roared, “Though,” he added and everyone fell silent, “As you are students… I suppose we should add that Ministry appointed illegal curses are not allowed,” there was much booing from the crowd, though Bartholomew knew they couldn’t have expected more. Didn’t stop a couple of people from getting up and walking out though.
“Toss of the coin sirs?” he said looking from one to the other, heads or tails? Who goes first”
((ALL COMPETITORS READ: Basically this is how the entire duel will play out, you will each say heads or tails at the end of each of your posts, if your choice is made your spell will hit your opponent, if not, it will miss them, or they will block it, when you play the block, the miss, or the hit, you will then play your return. So to get started, heads or tails? And we will decide who goes first))

Romulus listened to the introduction from where he stood on the side lines, he didn’t think it was a very good introduction and wondered where it was obvious that Bartholomew was supposed to be something of an entertainment wizard (if you will pardon the pun). Romulus sat tying his gloves onto his hands. He was pleased about the duel and happy to be a competitor though he still did not understand why she did not want him to come up against Lucius, did she think him weak.
By comparison, Alex hardly seemed worth stepping up to the plate. However Romulus would make it look like he was trying hard, he did not imagine this Emerindyl sixth year would be anything close to a match. Sure he might be seventeen just like Romulus, but he was still a sixth year, and nothing Romulus has seen of him before tonight lead him to believe he was a formidable opponent.
Romulus stood when his name was spoken and was happy to see the amount of people who cheered. He knew they were only cheering because he was a Ruberagon, and a pur blood. Not because they knew him personally or had any expectations of him as a single wizard. All the same though it was nice to be recognised with cheers at any public spectacle.
He smirked at Alex’s introduction, he knew it was a shot at Alex and his family, though Romulus didn’t really care what Alex’s family did beyond his life, it meant nothing to Romulus, still, to have a go at someone in public, especially his opponent; Romulus smiled. He stepped up to his position and checked his gloves again; they would be good for gripping his wand throughout the duel. Also to help him dodge any spells he would calculate to be too powerful for a shield charm. Not that he expected anything like that from Alex.
’Do not underestimate your opponent,’ Romulus said to himself, advice he was not actually going to take even though it was him giving it. He knew it was a logical piece of advice, though at the same time… it was an Emerindyl, and a sixth year at that… couldn’t Bartholomew have found him a more worthy opponent?

Alex heard the introduction and he could not have been more excited. He had been practicing duelling all week with one of his friends while a teacher overlooked in case there were any mishaps. He had only put his opponent in the hospital wing once though and that was because his opponent did not pay attention at a most crucial moment. Tonight Alex was in it for fun, though if he managed to put Romulus in the hospital wing by the end of the night things were going well. No hard feelings of course.
He knew Romulus would underestimate him. At least that was what he had anticipated. If Romulus really was prepared for him though it would just come down to who managed to be faster. Alex smiled when his name was called and he made his way out onto the duelling arena. He was not wearing a shirt as he found them constricting. And the pants he was wearing were light and easy to move in.
His wand was in his pocket not far from his hand. Alex looked into the crowd of people in the area and placed his hand in a position ready to start. He wasn’t sure what this fight would result in, but he was ready for whatever was dished up. He grinned. This was going to be a lot of fun, that or it would be a lot of pain.
“Ready when you are Silvia,” he shouted across the duelling arena. He didn’t know whether this was correct duelling etiquette but he wanted everyone to understand he was there for fun. Whatever happened, at least he had fun.

Alex bowed as the commentator told them the duel was to begin and listened as silence filled the duelling hall. He already had a curse in mind and hoped that it would be fast enough.
He remembered seeing in Defence Against Dark Arts that a person only had a split second to get out of the way or counter their opponent. It was a gamble trying an offensive straight away just in case Romulus was faster then him. If they both cast offensives though, would they simply hit each other and bounce off?
Alex bowed with his wand in his pocket and his hand on his chest. He was smiling now, it would all begin here and now.
Alex was ready. The bow seemed to last for a very long time, though he knew it had not, as he lifted his head again all around him went black. There was noting else before him or behind him. He struck his pocket with the stealth of an attacking hawk and drew his wand out rolling sideways across the floor as he did it in case Romulus had beaten him to his own wand.
Knowing Romulus might not expect this, Alex was able to spin over onto his knees, bring his wand whistling through the air forced forward by his hand he shouted his first attack for the night “Langlock!”

((Heads - at this point this means that Alex's curse will function upon Romulus as it should. Romulus is to play being hit by this curse at full strength, it's affects will last for your entire turn though will wear off on your next turn. Alexa also wins a point for a successful hit. You will have to reach five points for a win.))

Romulus whipped his wand out from his pocket in an attempt to stop the spell from making contact with him. He had not expected Alex to be so fast, but he also had a little trouble getting his wand out of his pocket, and so by the time his wand was in place the hurried [o]’Protego![/I]” was not quick enough to take effect and Romulus felt a cold sensation in his mouth as his tongue became glued to the top of his mouth.
He tried to pry it off manually though it did not work. He glared at Alex when he found he could not speak either. Fortunately for him he was in his seventh year and so he did not require being able to speak to cast spells. He sneered at Alex’s feeble attempt to curse him. While he had been very fast he had not really thought through the attack. He might have chosen a better curse if he had.
Laughter sounded around the duelling arena when the curse took affect. They were laughing at him? How dare they! It was not even a good curse. He cleared his throat with something of a roar building in the back of it. He was quick to anger, perhaps, but at this moment he was ready to rebut.
He punched the air with his wand in his hand. The spell was non-verbal, but the effect was instantly obvious. A ball of energy bombarded from the end of his wand not one but four times flying through the air like bludgers at Alex. Romulus would have him for this embarrassment, and his counter would hurt Alex far more then the pitiful mouth-locking curse.

Alex grinned when he saw that the spell had affected Romulus as it should, he knew that being in the seventh year Romulus would likely have perfected non-verbal spells, but stopping Romulus from replying was not something he was aiming for. People in the crowd had begun to laugh at him. Alex knew the kind of person Romulus was, and people laughing at him would be a lot more painful then actually hitting him with a curse. Alex grinned and laughed along with the crowd just to add to the pain Romulus might be feeling.
Alex closed his eyes to laugh for just a moment before a slit in his eyelids was filled with light. Alex reacted quickly when Romulus fired four balls of energy at him. This was too easy. Alex played energy ball cricket all the time and Romulus might as well just be playing with him. He raised his wand with a grin on his face and belted each energy ball back at Romulus in quick succession. He wasn’t actually aiming to hit Romulus, all the same it was funny when one came very close to doing so.
“Come on Romulus,” he shouted across the duelling arena. It was all a lot of fun but Alex wasn’t here for cricket practice he was here to duel, and while he wondered if Romulus was only toying with him, he would play the game until Romulus decided to get serious.
Still grinning he bowed to an applauding crowd, it seemed so easy when he had belted back the energy balls, almost as if Romulus was letting him win? Not likely.
Alex thought it was time to rebut though so after he finished bowing he spun his wand around and around and around as he chanted the whirlwind hex. A great wind issued from his wand and spun in circles as it formed a mini twister in the duelling ring. Alex fuelled it with his own strength and watched it grow large. Once it was a size fair enough to cause a little bit of damage he sent it at Romulus, wondering how he might try to get out of this one.

“Pathetic,” Romulus spoke with a sneer as he held out his wand in his right hand and his left hand in a mirrored position. The earth cracked in front of him, Romulus smiled as a wall of earth rose from between him and Alex and cut Alex’s cyclone off from him completely. This made it fire around Romulus’ side for a little while before totally fizzling out all together. “Pathetic,” he smiled knowing now with the earthed wall between them he had a chance to take Alex by surprise.
He shot something that looked like large blobs of slime from the end of his wand to each of the four corners of his wall. It seemed to be good enough without too much energy exceeded. Romulus smiled and spat several more splodges in several different areas. He then laced them together with strands of something from his wand. When at last each of these points appeared to be attached to the lead he stepped back a little bit and raised a shield around himself. Then he flicked the end of his wand.
The wall between them shattered in an explosion reminiscent to gelignite each charge exploded and sent pieces of the wall crashing in every direction. Romulus could only laugh manically as he stood behind the safety of his shield with bits and pieces of rock bouncing off of it.
The dust that followed the explosion was too much for Romulus to be able to see. He lowered his shield ending his turn as he waited to see what affect the explosion might have had on Alex. ((Tails))

((Nothing Spectacular, sorry, I dont have a lot of time tonight))
Exploding earth? Romulus might as well have thrown dirt at him. The shield Alex rose just as he saw the first lot of dirt explode was more then enough to hold back the onslaught that was nothing more then a dirt throwing contact. Alex had grown out of throwing dirt at people a long time ago and though there were also shards of stone and cement in the explosion, his shield kept him safe and sound. He was still a little annoyed about missing Romulus with his last attack and wanted to make sure that this turn was not wasted.
He thought of something particularly vindictive and waited a little longer for the dust to clear before he punched the air with his wand and chanted the conjunctivitis curse. A yellow light shot from his wand like conjunctivitis slime and fired at Romulus.

Romulus shouted with anger and with pain as a yellow goop hit him in the eyes. It stung for a moment and brought tears to his eyes. Not that they could get out. Romulus stumbled about a bit as he clawed at his eyes with his fingers. The conjunctivitis curse, it could be nothing else, Romulus had cast it on many an unsuspecting Saphricorn in his second year.
“How childish of you,” he muttered as he clawed t the thick goop that surrounded his eyes. It was one of the most disgusting things he had ever experiences in his life. He stumbled some more and fell to the ground. He did not like being able to see and decided at this moment that he was definitely not a fan of blindness and would tear somebody’s else’s eyes out if it meant that he would never have to suffer the loss of sight in his lifetime.
“Finite!” he chanted as he tried to knock away the curse, though found that he aimed badly and instead of aiming at his eye, he poked himself in the eye and the conjunctivitis juices burned his eye, or was that the sharp prodding of his wand. Either way he doubled over cradling his head on the ground. What could he do, he couldn’t see?
’don’t be a child, you idiot, SHE is watching,’ he thought to himself and stumbled into a standing position. He knew if he did not act soon he could very well be attacked again.
He focused his hearing, where was Alex? He would pay for this torment. Romulus would make him pay for this embarrassment by giving it back ten fold. The problem was how would he find Alex in the darkness of his own blindness.
He had it. And it was good. A sonic Boom.
He aimed his wand well pointing it right up. He would be at the point of the attack so he would not hear it. But it would amplify by the time it got to Alex and would hopefully deafen him.
He felt the power surge up his arm, coursing through his veins until it met with the fingers that grasped his wand. He felt the power transfer from his body to the wand which would wield it. He was laughing manically as he did this. It didn’t matter where Alex was. He would feel this. Romulus was sure of it.
