Mariana approached the hospital wing with hesitation. She had had a head ache on and off for the last couple of weeks; usually whenever she thought about the murder that occurred in the school the night of the duelling competition. She didn’t know why, but whenever she thought about this, her mind was filled with an intense pain.
The only thing was that as soon as she stopped thinking about it, the pain was gone and only the memory of it remained. She thought this was odd, as she had never had a headache that she could will to disperse without the need of medication and wanted to be sure that this was not some oddly cruel and mysterious magical malady.
That was why she came to see Dr. Cartwright.
She moved the door open and sidled into the hospital wing. She saw a curtain drawn around the bed and wondered if the body of Finnias Mark was still in the school. It was two weeks later though and she highly doubted it. But now she thought on it, she wondered how it must have felt to be killed the way he was. It had to be an unusual sensation-
She gasped and fell to the ground holding onto her head. This time it hurt more then before and she was in tears before her knees met the ground with a clunk. Everything else was drawn from her mind and o9nly the pain remained. But then it was gone.
She was breathing heavily as she looked up. The tears streaking her copper skin were now dropping from her jaw line onto the marbled floor in front of her. She was on the ground and crying. Even the memory of the pain hurt her now; even if the real pain was now gone.
