Rubin made his way to Lady Ameraid’s office clutching a letter in his hand that had been past to him by his teacher. It was a request that he come to her office directly after class, and his answer to this was one of curiosity. He had never been given a written letter from Professor Ameraid. Her messages were usually mentally passed.
He walked down the many winding corridors in the castle searching for Professor Ameraid’s office. He knew the only reason he could find it was because he was an Ameraid student. He had had to pass through several fake walls to get here and many secret passages that were not accessible without knowing exactly how to get into them. He at last came to a room with nothing but a fountain in it. He looked around and saw the walls were mirrors from floor to ceiling and knew at once he had come to the wrong place.
it was so obviously Ameraid, but it was not the office he sought out. He backed out of the room and turned to look further down the hall. When he turned to have one last glimpse of the room containing the fountain. He stumbled a little noting that it was no longer there.
He only let this confuse him for a moment before he started moving forward once more, living on his knowledge and on his skills at last he came to a circular room with a domed roof and saw a desk in the middle of it. The room was very messy and was filled with scrolls and books and a tray of trinkets Rubin would never dare touching.
He fell silent. It looked as if no one was here, but he also knew this could not be possible.
