Godric walked out onto the pitch to the tumultuous applause of the entire school. The first match of the season was one that was always highly anticipated and this year would be no different, in fact this year would be the best yet as it would be Godric’s last. His last as captain, and his last as a student of Koalingo. He knew he would not pursue a career in Quidditch after school though it had been suggested to him by many coaches who had come along to see the Koalingo Quidditch matches, scouting for talent.
This year Godric really wanted to show of the talent of Alex Zander, whom he knew had ambitions of going on to play Quidditch after school, though he would not be graduating for another year, Godric thought he might set him up to take the captaincy the following year. He and Alex had discussed it, and while the final decision fell to their head of house. Godric was sure that Alex was a shoe-in.
Looking high into the stands, Godric could see that everyone was there. The Manor must be totally void of students, and by the looks of the teachers stands, most of the staff were there as well, including all the founders and Professor Robbie Ruberagon. Godric raised both of his arms signaling for his team to do the same thing. The air was thick with roars of cheering from three quarters of the stands. The other quarter being that of the Ruberagon house who were catcalling and booing the Emerindyl team.
Godric stepped forward with his broomstick in his right hand. His Emerindyl quidditch robes were brand new and ready for the next year of adventures high in the sky riding the wind on his trusted firebolt. He turned to his team; he was pleased with the group he had put together. And was certain that this year would be THE year for Emerindyl House.
“Holly,” Godric turned to look at his Keeper. “Stick to the posts, you know what Ruberagon is like, they will try to draw you out so they can sneak some by, I have seen them do it before, you know what they’re like, just like every other year,” he smiled, though he was deadly serious, “Don’t let them confuse you, get out there and protect those goals as if they were you family being attacked,” it might be blunt, but Holly knew Godric well enough to understand.
“Belle, Alex, stay away from their seeker, leave him to Elouise, she can handle it just fine,” his eyes lingered on Elouise as if trying to superimpose upon her the belief that she was much more capable then the opposing Seeker. He turned back to his Beaters, “I want you guys to be on their chasers, leave their keeper to Bailey, Lara and I, got it?”
“Don’t be afraid to call time out if you need to, this one is going to be grueling,” he smiled at this moment though as if it being grueling was what they all wanted it to be. At the very least it should be what they all expected it to be, “Riders board your broomstick,” he announced and turned around and the team launched into the sky in formation.
