The air was not fresh. Well, the air itself was fresh, but the smoke Jessica was blowing was certainly not fresh. She had snuck out to her usual spot to have a muggle cigarette. She had started this nasty habit over the summer holidays two years ago and her only problem with it was that the school didn't allow her to do it inside. Thus forcing her to resort to sneaking out into the grounds daily.
It was a little bit of alone time after dinner and before bedtime. She didn't mind hanging out in the Ruberagon common room, but sometimes she needed space. Many of the other parts of the school were filled with Ameraids and Saphricorns, and worst of all, Emerindyls at this time of the night.
These kretins were to be avoided at all costs and so she found solice in her alone time outside. She inhaled one last time and flicked the butt onto the ground and stomped on it, not bothering to pick it up after and turned around to come face to face with another.

“So late for someone so pretty to be out and about on her lonesome,” Romulus had a smirk on his lips as he pounced down from the wall he had climbed over. Moving forward he looked the girl up and down openly. Grinning when he was done he leant back against the wall, the folds of his robes collecting on the insides of his elbows as he folded his arms and watched her.
“Someone might think your doing something you should be, skulking about this late, on your own,” he didn’t mind reminding her she was on her own as his gaze purposefully dropped to her hips and then climbed up again while his tongue licked the inside rim of his lips.
“A muggle invention, of course?” he said without looking down at the cigarette butt, he knew she would understand this was what he was talking about, “I thought it was against the code of your precious house to have anything to do with something tied to muggles?” he smirked again lowering his arms again to his pockets, drawing back his robes to see that underneath he was wearing jeans and a slack cotton shirt which tied up at the front.
From his pocket he drew out a small green call, “Interested?” he said holding the little green pill in his hand. “Completely magically manufactured, of course” he slipped one into his own mouth and watched the girl intently.

"Hey, if it works, it works. Muggles like them, but theirs are quite a bit different to these." she brandished the packet with it's moving symbols. They weren't the same cigarette's the muggles smoked, not full of tar and chemicals, and they burned differently.
Jessica was half torn between being complimented that he was looking at her like that, and creeped out that he did it with such enthusiasm. Still, she let no expression cross her face. She had never quite figured out what Romulus' deal was, and wasn't sure she ever wanted to. There was something not quite right about him, like he lived on some sort of edge and that thought was confirmed as he offered her a pill. There were two roads she could go down with this. The pill could quite easily be dangerous, and while she certainly wasn't a wuss, there was something not right with Romulus and she wouldn't put it past him to give her sometimes quite dangerous, or even lethal. It meant nothing to her that he had taken one of the pills.
She decided she wasn't interested in his green pills quite yet and shook her head, instead she pulled another cigarette from her packet and snapped her fingers close to the end. There was a spark and soon it was lit. This was a little trick she'd learnt early on saved her from having to pull out her wand or use one of those ridiculous things muggles called lighters.

“Suit yourself,” Romulus said to her dropping his gaze of interest, he had no time for goody goodies, and though she did bare resemblance to someone rebelling against normalcy, Romulus was finding himself quickly boring of her. He took the second pill, he one he had offered to her, and dropped it into his mouth with the next; he leant back against the wall as he felt their affects rushing over him. He closed his eyes and was suddenly quite euphoric.
He opened them again and saw the girl had lit up another cigarette, “Are you still here?” he said to her as his eyes fell level with her own he had expected her to walk off, that was the reaction most others got when he started doing things they did not care for.
“You intrigue me,” he said to her taking a breath and closing his eyes again leaning back against the walls as the euphoric sensation washed over him again and again, “You’re what?” he said without opening his eyes, he could feel a vibration in his ears, his whole body felt alive, “Sixteen?” he said after a brief interlude of no other noise.

Jessica said nothing, but nodded in response to his question. Romulus had an odd look on his face, but Jessica assume that was an effect of the two green pills he had just downed. She inhaled from her cigarette again and lifted her chin to blow the smoke into the air.
It was starting to get cold out there, and it was well and truly dark by now. Though Jessica was not worried about curfew, she knew her house elf was a blabbermouth and someone would be alerted of her dissapearance soon. If someone came to find her, she'd have to find a new nook to smoke in.
"And how old are you? Seventh year, aren't you?" she queried.

“Something like that,” he said to her still leaning back with his eyes closed, after a while the harsher affects of the green pill had warn off and a constant but slight buzz remained. He opened his eyes and looked at the girl before him with a smile on his face, she wasn’t bad looking after all. And there was all the chance she too felt the same he did on certain subjects. He was young, why should he not indulge, it wouldn’t make him forget the tasks life set him elsewhere.
“Well, if that’s all the entertainment you’re going to serve this evening, I think I might leave you to your pollution in peace,” he told her straightening up, his full senses returning to him as he did, only magnified by the pill he had taken.
He moved away a little and found himself in the full light of the braziers which flamed at regular intervals creating a picturesque twilight throughout the gardens. It really was a spectacular scenery, “Good night,” he said as he turned and disappearing through the gardens.

Jessica said only one word, "Night"
She inhaled one more time and dropped the butt of her cigarette on the ground, stepping on it make sure it was out. She watched Romulus turn and leave as she exhaled the last of her smoke.
That had been an interesting meeting, to say the least. She was curious as to why he'd spent so long with her, for Romulus was not the most sociable Ruberagon. As he dissapeared down the path she pondered briefly whether to follow him but decided against it. The back of her neck was already prickling and she felt it would probably be best to head to the commonroom.
Pulling her robes together a bit at the front she started to make her way in the opposite direction towards the manor and a shortcut to the Ruberagon commonroom.
