Lachlan was catching up on some homework. He'd felt ill the day before after eating something funny at lunch, and had missed his afternoon classes. He didn't have any trouble catching up of course, he was an Ameraid. But still, he wanted to make sure it was all done and he was up to date before he went to bed There was to be a duelling competition that night, and as he was not Pureblood, he was unable to go. Instead, he would head up to the Three Broomsticks with a couple of friends and see what happened from there.
He crossed the last T and dotted the last I on his piece of parchment and blew on it gently to help it dry. Once satisfied the work wasn't going to smudge, he rolled it up and stuck it in a tube marked DADA. It was his defence against the dark arts homework.
As he packed up his things, he decided he had probably had time for a shower before going out. A shadow loomed over the coffee table where he'd been working, and he looked up and grinned when he saw who it was.

“Is that our Defence Against Dark Arts Homework? Finished it yesterday,” Rubin smiled as he looked down at Lachlan. He knew it really was not a competition, but when it came to homework, getting it done as soon as possible was something Ameraid’s strived to achieve. Rubin was top in all of his classes, though when it came to being in the same class with other Ameraid’s things got difficult. And Rubin was in Lachlan’s Defence Class so he wondered now whether he had did his very best in the homework. He dismissed this little bit of second guessing though; knowing that it was very likely perfect.
“You heading to the Three Broomsticks?” he said as he looked at his friend and then off to see if anyone else had arrived. A few of them had decided to boycott the duelling night at Blood Lust just because they only allowed purebloods to attend. Rubin never told anyone what kind of blood he had. Not because he was ashamed, but because he did not want to be a part of labelling.
“I think there are a couple of people from some other houses going too,”

"Yeah, I was about to get organised to go, but I could probably leave now, if you want to go?" Lachlan said, still pulling all his things together. He would have a read over all his homework the next day, as he was still feeling a bit off in the stomach. He'd gotten some potion from Doctor Cartwright, but there was lingering uneasiness. Perhaps it was just nerves...
"I think there's going to be a couple of Emerindyls and maybe some Saphs, but I doubt any Ruberagon's will be there. Though that's not always a bad thing" he grinned and stood up. He was quite tall, about 6'2, probably one of the taller boys in the house.
He was wearing simple slacks and a shirt, it was far too warm in the commonroom to be wearing heavy robes. Still, he would need them and his cloak to go travelling to the Three Broomsticks.
"I'll put this away and then we can go" he said, indicating his homework.

“Sure no worries,” Rubin said as he pulled the bag he had on his shoulder a little tighter. The strap had loosened while he was climbing the immensely long spiralling stair case, and now it was beginning to hurt his back, “I’ll drop this back in my room and meet you downstairs?” he said making it sound like a question though it was more of an ‘this is what I am going to do’ statement.
He moved from the room and made his way up a couple of levels. This took him a little bit of time and so he was sure that by the time he arrived in the palace marbled entrance that Lachlan would likely be there. He made it into his room with no issue.
A moment later he was sliding down the poll, which made it all the way to the bottom level. He knew any Saphricorn would find this poll rather exciting, but Rubin had gone down it so many times, he was quite over it.
When he landed he rubbed his hands on his cloak, making a mental note to inform Lady Ameraid that it needed another magical coat as it was starting to warm his hands up on the way down. He looked around for Lachlan; ready to go.

Lachlan nodded and made his way to his own room. It was neat as usual, everything in it's place, and a place for everything. Not wanting any of his stuff to get ruined in his bag, he quickly unpacked it all, placing everything on his desk and hanging the bag up. Much better.
After that was done, he moevd to his wardrobe and pulled on a set of navy blue robes over the clothes he was wearing, and pulled his travelling cloak out, for it was going to be cold outside. With it under his arm, he took one last look around his room and walked out the door, shutting it carefully behind him.
He slid down the pole and landed shortly after Rubin. Of course it had taken him longer, for he'd had to change as well.
"Alright, I'm ready" he said as he pulled his cloak on and fastened it at his shoulder. It was quite fashionable and he had that confidence Ameraids tended to have, he knew he looked good. "Lets go"
