Rubin had been walking in the grounds when he heard the trickling of water coming from behind a hedge he had not laid eyes on in some time. He knew what was behind it and became suddenly excited. He wandered around it and found a little stone bench that looked a little dirtier then it had last time he had laid eyes on it. Memories flooded into his mind of his first year. He and Allora Thunder had met on this spot all those years ago.
A lot had changed since then; he could not have thought in his entire life before schooling at Koalingo that life would produce such an amount of drama. It seemed he would never have a normal year at Koalingo Academy, though as he thought about it and remembered that it was a school of magic, and knowing this he decided there probably was no such thing as a normal year at Koalingo. At least not a boring one anyway.
His thoughts drifted to Andreas Mark and he wondered how abnormal life seemed after what had happened to his brother. A tragedy in itself, and Rubin knew that if he had siblings, he would not know how to handle losing them. Of course this made him muse about the fact that he didn’t have siblings. Should he feel sad about the fact that he didn’t have siblings. Should he mourn the loss of something he never had, or should he realize that it is a loss to have never experienced something like a brother or a sister.
That was probably why he thought about Allora so much lately. They were close, about as close as two people could be. She was like his sister. He knew that he could not bare to lose her. And this is when he decided he really understood how Andreas would feel.
He heard the cracking of a twig and turned on the spot. Someone had arrived at his location.

“You,” the voice cut sharply through the melodies played by the tumbling sounds of water. ‘What are you doing here Ameraid?” it sounded like an accusation as if the boy was not supposed to be here, though Lakasha knew he had just about as much right to be here as she did. Unfortunately she had an important meeting planned for this place and he would have to scram if it were not to be interrupted, “Why aren’t you off with your little friends, I see you don’t have any books with you, that’s strange, you don’t want somebody to think you’re up to something,”
The innuendo was artful. The house of ameraid had suffered the taunting of the other four houses for seven years, and the taunting had only grown worse after one of the boys in there house died. Despite what Lakasha had been commanded to find out, she didn’t know a whole lot about it though and that was why she was meeting here today with someone who said they had information for her. She knew the person was not Rubin Hennessy though and so she had to let him know how unwelcome he was.
“No one hangs around here for non-suspicious reasons kid,” she said, knowing that calling him kid was enough of an insult without getting into it too much. “Or is it that you are up to something? Meeting with some friends of yours, perhaps some friends that certain teachers or even aurora might like to know about?” she smirked, her eyes flickered with joy as she teased him. Normally he wouldn’t be worth her energy, but she had to get rid of him, who knew when they might be interrupted.

‘You’d think do, wouldn’t you?’ he said to her with a surprisingly calm voice. Rubin was notoriously shy around Ruberagon’s and he had hoped this Ruberagon would understand at once what was behind his intentional tone. He looked her up and down with an imperious gaze before looking back towards the way she had come, ‘You were careful to ensure no one was following you?’ he said to her with an accusation in his voice as he looked nervously up the path before turning and walking further into the seclusion of the garden, ‘Come with me’
His task was simple. He knew that Lakasha was the eyes and ears of Lucius Sinister, and as the eyes and ears of Aurora Celeste, Rubin Hennessey felt that he and Lakasha were in some way akin. Truth be told the girl scared the living daylights out of him, but when he was asked to do something for Aurora, he didn’t question it out of friendship and loyalty.
‘I have some information for Lucius from Aurora, I am sure you will pass it onto him,’ Rubin spoke as he stopped by the stone bench and gestured for her to sit before moving a little way from the bench having no intention on sitting with her. The gnarled limbs of the overgrown trees around the garden and the twisted thorns of blackberry bush littered the stone courtyard that surrounded the central memorial icon. He looked at them with more interest then he should have given his current situation.
Turning his grey eyes back to Lakasha, he cleared his throat, ‘The death of Finnias Mark had nothing to do with any member of the Ameraid house,’ he said it like an announcement that everyone should know. Aurora knew this to be true, and knew that to pass this information onto Lucius, it would be circulated through and to the ones who really mattered in each house.

Lakasha looked this Ameraid up and down mimicking his own behaviour with a little more drama. She didn’t understand where this kid got off thinking he could talk to her, let alone think she would be interested sitting next to him. Still at the mention of him telling her something important for Lucius she froze where she stood. Normally she would have just stayed to hear him out to protect the interests of Lucius, but thatside of her world had become a little hazey of late. Now she wanted to know what was being said anyway, but not necessarily in the interests of Lucius.
She did sit but stood and folded her arms, also beginning to tap her foot impatiently. She would have been less jittery about the interaction if she didn’t know there was a possibility she might be seen by someone talking to the boy, and should that happen, Lucius would find out about it anyway and then she would have to share with him whatever information he shared with her during this discussion… and she wasn’t entirely sure she wanted to do that yet.
Just the same, she still wanted to know what he was talking about, and knew that even if she wouldn’t tell Lucius what she heard, there might be others who’d appreciate the information as much as she did… if not more.
“Fine” she said still not sitting, “Spill” and when he did her lips curled up at the edges but there was no happiness in her smile at all. “You have to be kidding me, that is what you stopped me for? That is what you risked physical harm for? To tell me some rubbish about something you know nothing about. To be quite honest I don’t really care what you think about an Ameraid being involved in the Death of that Mark kid, we will all draw our own assumptions at the end of the day wont we” she shook her head in disbelief, even if she did go to Lucius with this, he would likely tell her off for wasting his time.
“No one believes the Ameraid’s are entirely blameless in this, your shifty history makes us Ruberagon’s look tame, and you or your precious little super Ameraid friend Aurora can try and tell people whatever you want,” Lakasha shook her head turning to leave.

"You know something dont you!" he accused suddenly looking at her with alarm in his own eyes. He hadn't heard it as clearly as if he were focusing on reading her thoughts. Still he was a sixth year and his telepathic abilities were not particularly novice, especially around those who were no older than he. "You know something," he squinted a little more trying to concentrate though the information was slipping away as quickly as he tried to grasp it. There was protection on this girls mind, and it was beyond her abilities.
"I know you know Ameraid's had nothing to do with the murder," he told her still trying to intrude upon her mind, "How?!" he found himself demanding of her, he didnt know where all this newfound strength was coming from, but he knew the only reason he himself was certain of the truth of it was because Aurora had told him of the innocence she saw in the minds of her fellow Ameraids. But even she had concerns. Why then was there this glimmar of knowledge in Lakasha's mind that there was no doubt about the Ameraids lack of involvement.
