Audrey appeared in the Golden Hall just as breakfast had started. She was an enthusiastic first year with quite a talent for magic. The first few classes she'd had already, the teachers had noted how fast she learned.
She was meeting a friend here, a fellow first year Emerindyl by the name of Jack. The two of them were quite close friends and often seen hanging out together between and after classes.
Here, she had saved him a seat at the Emerindyl House Table but was nibbling on a slice of toast with butter while waiting for him.

Jack slumped into the seat next to Audrey kissing her on the cheek and putting his head into his heads. The jagged ends of his golden fringe hung in frustration over his hands as he stared for a moment into the oblivion between his eyes and his palms. He had just had a really interesting experience in his Defence Against Dark Arts Class.
“I was so close to slipping, the Professor was showing us a real live dementor and when he let it demonstrate its powers to us I conjured a patronus,” he said, knowing this was magic way beyond a first year. He shook his head and looked a little longer into nothing.
“I caught myself thank goodness, I was about to finish the incantation and said Expecto Patroneeo… the Professor laughed at my feeble attempt and I don’t think he noticed the white haze spit from the end of my wand like... well… something else,” he hung his head a little longer, “So how was your day, darling?”

"This travel magic is messing with your brain Jack darling, it's seven o'clock! My day's just started and I'm not sure I'm even awake properly yet" she reached over and ruffled his hair gently, an affectionate gesture, and one that was quite the habit now.
"I guess there could have been side effects," she suggested, checking his temperature by placing her palm on his forehead. "I'd say go to the hospital wing, but it would be a bit hard to explain."
Dropping her hand, she used it to pick up a spoon from a dish in the middle of the table and began to serve them both breakfast. She knew what Jack liked to eat and so piled food onto his plate too.

Jack stretched as he tried to get the feeling back in his arms. He was sure the stiffness in his joints had something to do with the traveling magic, but he knew that his mistake of nearly conjuring a patronus was simply because he was so tired. He had chosen to take the Defense Against Dark Arts lessons that occurred in the mornings before breakfast and often forgot that there were those who didn’t have these classes and so didn’t wake up until much later then he.
“I am not sure I am even awake yet,” Jack said as he laid his head on the table. A glass of Apple Juice appeared by his face the condensation of which dribbled from the glass onto the end of his nose. From there it dripped into his nostrils, causing him to breath it in, which ultimately caused the scene that happened a moment later when he sat up coughing and spluttering as the drips made their way into his sinus. The pain woke him instantly.
“Yeah, I can picture it now,” he said coming up pinching the bridge of his nose and trying to hold back the tears welling in his eyes. “Doctor… what’s-his-face I am sorry, but time traveling has seemed to give me a hint of stupidity… which is mixing with immaturity… and… I don’t know… something else… it is too early to start thinking,”
“Thanks Honey,” he smiled at her meekly as he laid his head down again by the plate Audrey was filling for him.

Only slightly amused, not full out laughing as that would have embarassed Jack, she passed him a folded serviette and continued to fill his plate. The proportions were probably more equal to what an adult would have, but Audrey was not used to being so small.
She picked up a fork and began to eat the scrambled eggs she'd put on her plate and chewed slowly. After she finished the mouthful, she looked to Jack and patted his hand gently.
"So I think we need a game plan darling. I mean I kknow what we have to do, but I think it would be a good time to figure out how we're going to do it." she suggested as she put another forkful of food into her mouth.

((wow, you so are your character, that is so something you would say OOC))
Jack sighed and looked lovingly into the eyes of his… friend. He sat up and untied the serviette laying it across his lap and moving towards his plate. It seemed to have everything he liked on it. He always missed how Koalingo dining was always such an impressive affair.
One could have whatever they wanted whenever they want it. It was really quite remarkabl. All you had to do was think about what you wanted and it would be before you.
Granted Audrey and he had willed a whole banquet and were now picking from it for their fill. All the same though, the food and the good nature of his… friend made the whole thing that much better. “Pass the sauce sweetheart?” he asked her as he started cutting up thick sausages and sniffing them to see that they were indeed cooked the way he liked them.
“I think I better meet Godric first, I have had a couple of chances to run into him, but never a chance to talk, mother always said he was kind of reserved unless the occasion called for it, but how does one find the occasion?” he said drinking from his tall glass of orange and mango juice.

"Yes, it's definately important that you meet Godric. Though, I think I saw him on the list for the duel tonight. We're not going to that, are we?" It was more of a rhetorical question that Audrey posed, for she knew the two of them had other plans for that night, much more important plans.
"I think we need to get started on the list, and soon. We only have limited time, and an opportunity will arise tonight that we need to... take advantage of" her voice was very serious and she stopped talking to eat a few more forkfuls of food.
The subject they were talking about was a very serious one indeed and sometimes it made Audrey's stomach turn to think about it. But those seemed to be the most important things, Jack meeting Godric, and the list... yes.. the list. Her thoughts wandered.

Jack couldn’t help but feel a pull at the back of his mind when Audrey mentioned his f- his fellow housemate Godric attending the duelling competition at Blood lust, he really wanted to see it. He had heard about the competition many times and how spectacularly Godric performed in it. He shook his head with this thought and ensured that his occlumency was in full affect.
He had to be careful about things like this. There were so many in the castle who could invade his thoughts, and while he had very little interest in most of them, knowing they would not find interest in him either, he was all the same careful.
“I don’t suppose I could…” he left it hanging; he knew Audrey would appreciate that he really wanted to go to the competition. He wouldn’t compete, that would, in no meaning of the word, be fair. He knew he could also compromise his and Audrey’s position if he competed and so chose not to. But all the same, a chance to see Godric in action…
“It wouldn’t take me long, I could take a broomstick from the Quidditch pitch and be back here on time, I know when he’ll be where we are going to meet him, it wont take me long,” he said as he looked at his friend and gazed lovingly into her eyes as if he was almost pleading. He really wanted to see Godric duel.

Audrey knew it was the wrong thing for her to say yes. They had an incredibly important task ahead of them that night, and she knew Jack would need all his concentation and wits about him. Still, she had never been able to resist that look, the one he gave her right now and so she slowly nodded, as if hypnotised.
"I trust you Jack," she said, taking his hand in her own, "Just make sure you're back in time. I'll wait there and meet you, to make sure he doesn't get away."
She knew how important it was for Jack to see what his f.. the older Emerindyl was like, he was definately someone Jack could look up to.
"So long as you don't forget the other reason we're here," she reminded him. Audrey went to kiss Jack, but thought better of it, for prying eyes were everywhere around this castle.

Jack knew the face would work, he had used it on her for years and years and it did not disappoint him to see that none of its charm had worn off. He smiled at his wife and dug into his food with some excitement about him. He had been worrying what she would say to him about attending the duel many times. He thought she would tell him to suck it up and remember the task he had at hand. He realised now it was silly for him to feel such. She always understood him, and he realised he knew all along that she was going to let him go.
“Thank You!” he smiled and kissed her on the lips with a mouthful of mashed potato. He did not leave a mark though and continued to shovel down his food with a renewed passion for eating. He smiled as he ate now, nothing could ruin the rest of his day, not even the prospect of what he had to do that night,
“So what did you want to do today?” he asked, knowing that now she had given him a bit of leeway it was his turn to give her something back. He didn’t think he needed to remind her that he knew exactly why they were there, and he knew everything he had to do ran on schedule and that at the end of the year they would go back to their real lives, but he also knew this year would be the only year where there were gaps between his commitments where he could kick back and relax.

With the taste of mashed potato on her lips, Audrey smiled. Jack amused her greatly sometimes, his enthusiastic personality was often a lot of fun. She was glad to have made him happy by 'allowing' him to go to the duelling match, though truth be told, she would never stand in his way should he want to do something. She thought it would be good for him to go to see Godric duel, heritage was important she thought, for she knew almost nothing about her own.
"Today I have to go to classes. I get to sit through lessons I sat through some fifteen, twenty years ago, it's fantastic. At least I'm getting good marks the second time around" she grinned at him as she finished the last of what was on her plate.
"Speaking of classes though, I've got one in ten minutes and have to dash" she sighed dramatically, but was still smiling. "I'll meet you back here for lunch, alright?" Audrey smiled, kissed Jack on the cheek and stood up, picking up her book bag. Running a hand down his arm in an affectionate gesture, she turned to head off to class.
