It was Monday afternoon and nothing much was happening. Andreas had a study period open to him and nothing to do as his homework was complete and if he had to look at his moon chart one more time he was going wrap it around his head and headbutt something hard repeatedly until the chart was completely destroyed. Normally he quite liked to read through his homework again and again insuring there was absolutely nothing he could have missed. This afternoon though he had found he had overdone himself.
The weekend had come and gone and Andreas had spent the whole weekend boarded up in his room reading his text books from cover to cover. He had memorised almost everything work for word and could quote anything about anything quite easily.
Today he had decided he had had enough studying though and so spent his time sitting in the Golden Hall reading a novel he had brought from home. It was an interesting novel about a muggle called Larry Cotter, Andreas found it difficult to believe half the odd things the muggle seemed to get up to. Though he supposed this is why he liked the book so much, and mutual territory of the golden hall seemed like a far better escape then his room.
He placed his hand down on the table willing a glass of orange juice, which promptly appeared in front of him. He drank some of its contents and lounged forward against the table as he read. He was really getting into the book.

Shane wandered into the Golden Hall with a rather confused look on his face. He had been playing with a fanged Frisbee in the golden hall that morning and had to disappear when Professor Ruberagon had come along and nearly caught him. He had abandoned the fanged Frisbee trying not to be caught and had run from the hall. Now things were quiet again and so he returned to get it.
When he walked in the hall he noticed it was almost entirely deserted, though he did see an Ameraid students sitting about where his Frisbee had landed earlier and thought he might just sidle up to him and see if he had seen it.
He sat on the table directly across from him, “Hello” he greeted him with a smile written across his face. He didn’t know whether the boy would like to be interrupted, he appeared to be reading, but who ever saw an Ameraid doing anything different?

Andreas didn’t really appreciate the interruption, he was reading, did he look like he wanted to talk to anyone. When he noticed it was a Saphricorn though things all became clear to him. This was even worse then that blonde Emerindyl he had had to speak to the other day in the Entrance Courtyard. He had to admit though he was curious over whether this Saphricorn could hold a conversation. He had heard they were all fairly stupid.
He looked up from his book with an annoyed look at first, but this changed and he replied with a greeting also, “Good morning,” he said to the Saphricorn, whose name he did not yet know. He wondered for a moment whether the Saphricorn would know to begin the whole introduction process.
“Is there anything I can help you with today?” The reply was rather curt, but Andreas knew this was the way to speak with slower people, his mother worked with people in the addled brains wing of the Magical Hospital in Sydney and she had always told him that when all else failed, it paid to be blunt.

Shane could tell something was bothering the boy and didn’t think for a moment that it could be him. He smiled blissfully ignorant to that fact as he too put out his hand to received a large glass of soft drink before sinking it down his throat as quickly as he could before slamming the glass back on the table, it was a stellar effort. The soft drink was burning the back of his nose, but all the same it was a stellar effort and one he could be proud of.
”Shane,” he said haughtily holding out his hand, he thought the Ameraid might have come from an unloving background, and this was why he did not have the manners to offer his name first. Shane understood this kind of person and pitied them a little, but it only make him want to introduce himself all the more, “Shane Moonraker,”
“No, there is nothing really, I just thought you might appreciate someone to talk to, you know it is free time right now and there is so much you could be doing, wouldn’t it be great to go for a fly? The pitch is all tied up with Quidditch trials though; I like Quidditch, do you? I hope I am going to be on the team this year, don’t you?”

’I would not have thought someone could be so dense… but then he is a Saphricorn after all,’ Andreas thought as he looked at the boy who was ignorant to his displeasure for the company of a Saphricorn. He watched the boy ‘down’ a glass of whatever it was and then slam the glass on the table, ’I wonder if he learned that at a pub, he does seem the kind to spend a lot of time in a pub though he is obviously under age, oh Andreas you are talking to a Bogan… how do I get rid of him?’
”That’s nice,” he answered to Shane’s introduction. He had no desire to allow the Saphricorn to know his name. He had always believed that it was a degree of power to allow someone to know your name, first and foremost you could not pretend not to know them as they would know you by name. And Andreas was not about to let that happen. Not today, not any day.
”This is my choice today, if it were not I would be elsewhere doing other things,” he said quite stiffly. He didn’t appreciate that the Saphricorn was supposedly feeling sorry for him, it wasn’t him that had so little to do that bothering people in other houses was the only thing he had planned for the day. He rolled his eyes into his head when the boy started talking about Quidditch, of course Andreas had applied for the team that year, but it didn’t mean he wanted to discuss Quidditch with a Saphricorn.
“You know I heard that you are allowed to fly in the ground providing you keep away from everyone else,” he said by way of hinting that Shane should stay away from him.
