Arutha stood in the entrance courtyard with his hands firmly on his hips and his thoughts racing a million miles a second. This was the first time he had been to Koalingo Academy in seven years, and things were not looking the way they had when he had left. He watched lower officials running around and had even had to curse a group of reporters whom had made their way into the school after being ordered out of it several times.
As usual his belt was on his waist, sheathed and his black and red cloak with the five lightning badges on his shoulder made him look imperious enough, but he was not content with this alone. The look on his face kept many people away from him while he thought things over in his mind. What had happened here? Someone had died, that was clear enough, but the boy was in Ameraid and was a seventh year. From what Arutha deduced the child was a full-blooded member of wizarding society and had a brother a couple of grades lower then him, but that meant nothing right now.
Someone had come into the school while everyone was out and had murdered a student. Someone in the Guild of Avada, that much was obvious, who else would kill a student without motive. This was there was of showing that they were capable of getting into the grounds whenever they wanted. It also likely meant that the Guild of Avada had some spies on the inside.
Arutha had questioned many people that morning and all were quite shaken, though none more then the librarian whom looked as if at any moment she could go completely catatonic. He put this down to her being a squib and being afraid that if this could happen to someone who could perform magic, then she had absolutely no chance at all. She had been shaking throughout the entire interview and looked absolutely horrified.
Beyond that though, something that kept nagging at him was the fact that nothing appeared to have been taken from the castle. The guild had had a perfect chance to sneak into the Manor and take something or at least cause damage to property though they had done none of it, only killing a student. Some would say that this was enough of a tragedy on their part, though all the same it did not fit the Guild’s profile entirely. Why would they come into the castle and waste an empty night killing only one Ameraid.

“Sir,” Arthur approached the General respectfully, having gone over the scene with a fine tooth comb he had come up with a few things they might not have expected to find, “There were several people here, from what I can make out anyway,” he said as he walked around the scene of the crime pointing out evidence that suggested there might have been up to four people present at the time of the murder, “Unfortunately though, a lot of it has been contaminated, but these marks are Godric, Lady Saphricorn, but then who is this? And there was another body here from what I can tell, but then where is it?”
‘It’s almost as if the victim took down one of his enemies,” Arthur said as waved his wand over a ledger which took down all of the information he had just given to General ConDoin, “Unfortunately the integrity of this information could have been ruined by any number of nosey students,” Arthur said as he expected would be the answer of his superior, “Though,” he said holding his finger up, he pointed his wand at the ground and footprints were high lighted next to the muffled imprint of what he believed was the second body, “It was an adult sir, I can surmise that he picked up the second body, but instead of leaving, took it into the castle,”
“Another adult followed shortly after,” he said high lighting a second set of adult footprints. “That’s all we’ve been able to find from the crime scene, there are plenty of hair follicles and what not, but again, the integrity of that evidence is… well you know,”
He stood back and lowered his clip board to his side to await further instructions.

“How perceptive of you,” Arutha replied, though it was with a pert motive that was not in the slightest pleased. “You did, however miss the many spells and incantations that even now permeate the scene,” he said, pulling out his wand and whipping it in the air. There was a crack and a soft green glow surrounded the area. There appeared to be a fading boundary of light and patches of multicoloured lights here and there. This meant something that Arutha would have picked up even in his first year.
“This hit was planned, someone came here and made sure this area was clear and secure,” he said as he moved his wand around. The people in the crowded courtyard stopped moving and speaking as they saw how far the fading incantations spread. It appeared that at some point someone had made entry over the wall while in flight, and that the incantations allowed the entry of someone from the staircases to the castle.
“Does this perhaps shed a little more light on the scene, Arthur?” Arutha was not at all pleased by this officer’s lack of knowledge on this part of his job. He would reprimand him for it later, in the meantime though he expected the idiot to get back to his investigation. Arutha could smell this magic in the air, and while he would be unable to sense where it came from and who had performed it, he knew it was quite powerful magic and that whoever did it put a lot of energy into casting it, and then trying to remove it later. It was almost perfect.
He turned away from the young auror and looked around for Lord Emerindyl, he knew the man had gone to his office to speak with the parents of the victim and his brother whom Arutha discovered was in a lower grade. He wanted to question him but was told it was out of the question. He didn’t like it when parents interfered with his investigations when it came to younger people.

“An interesting scent wouldn’t you say?” Robbie walked forwards to where Arutha ConDoin was standing and stopped with his hands resting on his hips as he looked around. It was surprising to say the least that so little had been uncovered so late into the morning. Rob had done his own sweep of the Courtyard and found a lot of things that did not add up, least of all being that there was a great deal of magical erasing going on even now.
“I would say it smells almost young perhaps?” he said as he stood there. His eyes flickered from what they normally looked like to something more reptilian and he was able to see the lines General ConDoin had uncovered without actually using a charm to do so; as he had. He followed them up to where it appeared someone had entered while flying and wondered why this would not have registered on the security sensors that the school security should have placed.
“What’s more interesting is that I can smell Avada everywhere,” he said looking about the courtyard, “Though does this mean her followers were present during the murder or are there perhaps operatives within the school who passed through this morning, it was a hefty mistake to allow so many to move through the scene before it had been properly wrapped Arutha” he liked to play these little games with Arutha ConDoin, it was no small pain that Rob had evaded him for so long when he was still believed to be a dark wizard.
“I am sure you have it all under control though,” he nodded with a serious expression on his face, before starting with what he was really sent down here to do, “Lord Emerindyl has requested that I have all information gathered to bring to him,” he said knowing Arutha would likely complain that he should be the one to make a report. Rob thought not, however.

Arutha knew that Rob would have expected his reaction and so Arutha did not deny him it. “I don’t know if that is wise Ruberagon, I think I would prefer to keep this a top secret investigation if you don’t mind,” Arutha said to him not openly being rude but hoping Rob would pick up on it nonetheless. “This is a delicate situation which requires a degree of decorum and I think perhaps as much of it as can be kept from being overheard…” he trailed off as some of his own man walked past them, “Should in fact remain private,”
Arutha had his own list of suspects, and for the moment any student or teacher in the school could have had a hand in what had occurred and he was not about to make the mistake of tipping off one of the suspects by telling him he is suspected. “Of course I agree, too many people have been through here since the murder occurred, it is disappointing that there was not a teacher around with the mind to see to it that this place was untouched, which leads me to wonder; where were you this morning, Rubeus?” It wasn’t subtle. But being subtle in a time like this seemed totally inappropriate, especially to whom he was speaking.
“I heard the contest last night was quite the spectacle, did you go along to witness Lucius’ success against Godric Emerindyl? I imagine it was worth a night of no sleep,” which of course reminded him that he had not slept in almost a week and probably would not have the chance to do so from now for another week and maybe longer.
Arutha made no comment to the evidence that Rubeus now brought him, while it appeared Arutha had picked up on more then his own men, it was now obvious that Rob had picked up on more then he had even discovered, and this made him want to curse himself. He said nothing thought but ticked these things off in his mind so that he might take a closer look later on, “You may inform Lord Emerindyl that I will bring him a full report myself when I have completed the initial investigation of the crime scene,”
