Lucius sat in silence listening to nothing but the soft patter of rain drops against the glass doors that stretched from the ceiling to the ground at the far left of the Golden Hall. This afternoon was one of the most dismal of the summer months. The afternoon thunderstorms meant that everyone who wanted to be outdoors; was forced indoors. This didn’t help anyone any though, as yes it was raining, but it was still summer.
Lucius lifted a crystal goblet to his mouth, the frosting around the finely crafted goblet streaked away from his grip only to appear when he set the goblet down again. An ice cold drink was about all one could do when there was a thunderstorm, already damp to the bones, the thought of a bath, or a swim seemed laughable. Though a nice cold drink of pumpkin juice did a lot for the mood of a cooped up young man. Lucius looked about the Golden Hall for a familiar face. It was a rare occasion when he found himself interested in the company of others, no doubt though he would regret this new found want soon enough.

“Morning,” Lakasha greeted Lucius as she came to sit close to him but not to his immediate right or left. Lakasha usually sat directly across from him, knowing his immediate right or left were reserved for Kalika, and the opposite side from whichever she sat at was reserved for emptiness. She put out her hand and a goblet appeared for her also, though she did not drink pumpkin juice, she never was able to drink something that normally came in the form of a vegetable and/or soup.
She said nothing more then a greeting, she had already been set a task for this week and knew that by remaining silent she was telling him enough that she had not yet managed to breach the subject of Romulus with Jessica or Natalie. A plate appeared in front of her and she gathered up her cutlery beginning to eat her breakfast in silence. If Lucius chose to greet her she would of course stop eating long enough to appreciate the welcome, and should he address her he would have her whole attention. In the meantime though, she was content to enjoy something to eat, even if it was not to the standards she expected from the kitchens at home.

Natalie arrived at the Ruberagon table a couple of minutes after Lakasha. She had not been in the Ruberagon Common Room or they would probably have walked together, but she had been awoken by an owl early in the morning, and there had been an altercation with her sister.
Given that, she was in quite the foul mood but her face remained neutral and she would naturally tell no one of their arguement. Instead Natalie would mentally add this to her list of reasons she hated her twin.
She sat down one seat away from Lakasha. Natalie liked to have space when she eat, and due to the routine it was habit to sit there. Normally, Kalika would sit opposite the seat between Lakasha and herself.
"Morning," she greeted her friends simply and began to eat.

“How good of you to join us,” he said to her, though this came with a slight sneer, he didn’t like it when someone did not follow out his requests at maximum efficiency and so he was a little annoyed with Lakasha but the morning table, with company, was not the place to discuss it.
He could tell that Natalie was not in a good mood, it was a vibe he picked up quite easily, but being the person he is, he didn’t feel the need to pursue her feelings in the slightest, the very idea was laughable to say the least.
Lucius went back to focusing on his goblet at Natalie sat down, he had chosen to ignore Lakasha all together, wondering himself when Kalika might be joining them. He had not slept well, and then Lakasha had disappointed him.
Things were certainly not going in his way, he wondered when he might have to do it all himself.

Kalika glided in, perfectly put together, as always. Her blond hair shone and seemed to have a certain glow to it that made it appear as if the seventh year had a halo atop her head. Her whole look exuded innocence and sweetness, which was rather amusing considering Kalika's brutally cold and unfeeling nature.
Making her way to her usual place at the table her thoughts when to Evangeline. She still had not talked to the girl about the incident at the sorting ceremony but knew the conversation had to take place. It goes without saying that to be a Gardan is to be of the Ruberagon House, and Kalika still fumed at remembering her sister's deliberate dishonor to her bloodline.
Finally reaching her place, Kalika sat next to Lucius and ever so subtley brushed his hand. Normally Kalika and Lucius' exchanges of affection were left out of public (and prying) eyes. however as of late, Kalika noticed herself letting Lucius know more often how much he meant to her. Time was running out and her destiny was soon to reveal itself. And, as much as the future Lady Gardan refused to believe it, she knew that she would not survive whatever it was that she would have to endure.
She had not told Lucius yet however, considering that the matter was so delicate and she did not even know how to start. With anyone else she could be careless with her words on whatever the matter, but with Lucius, she felt that timing played a very important part.
The question is... how much time did she really have left...
After recieving a glass of water (she noticed her appetite, which was already small, had diminished to almost nothing) Kalika looked at Lucius again, a smile playing on her full red lips. "Such a beautiful day outside, isn't it?" Her sarcasm was light and joking and in a soft tone that she would only give to him. Everyone else recieved the usual silvery tone that was always biting as well as cruel.
She turned to Lakasha and inclined her head ever so slightly, then turning to Natalie, Kalika stared at the girl as if she were looking at bland wallpaper. She didn't much like the younger Ruberagon's obvious affections for Lucius, added to the fact that although she belonged to her own house, the truth of the matter was that Kalika thought nothing of anyone that she felt was not her equal. and this girl was far from being her equal.
As Kalika were turning her head back to face Lucius, her sister caught her eye. Her eyes locked on Evangeline's happy form as her stare turned ice cold. Kalika would make this girl realize just why people did not dare to cross her. and the confrontation would come sooner then the Emerindyl would expect.

Lakasha remained silent as she ate. She was glad for Kalika’s entry as it meant Lakasha would be able to slip away with Natalie and hopefully complete her task before next time she met with Lucius, which would undoubtedly be at breakfast the following morning. In the meantime though, Lakasha had to think of a new approach. How would she be able to gain the confidence in which she could … well… pry.
”We all live for these days of course,” Lakasha replied in an equally subtle sarcasm, “Days in which we all can huddle together like common filth, breathing in the acrid stench of sweat which comes from those who remain active in an un filtered space,”
”I was in the library earlier, that pathetic squib was chasing people out for making even the slightest of noises, the library was almost completely empty by the time I left,” Lakasha mentioned, not admiring the squib, but admiring her ruthlessness and cunning to be alone and away from the scent of summer storm sweating bodies.
“Of course though, when there is a squib, even in the most empty of rooms, the stench is quite unbearable…” she continued to eat from this point, as if the food before her cleansed her senses of such filth.

Natalie had watched the arrival of Kalika and resented the way the older girl seemed to think she was royalty or something. She could tell Kalika did not think much of her and while she would have loved to say she didn't care, of course she did. It was hard to be in this little clique. She had worked her way into it slowly by being useful to Lucius, but there was always the issue of her age. The other three were a year older than her and so often treated Natalie as though she was inferior. She supposed this was the case, but hadn't she proved herself useful to Lucius in the past?
Though she could think of a few things to say in response to Lakasha's statements, she chose to keep her mouth firmly shut. Anything she said would surely get withering stares from the other three and so she concentrated on her breakfast.
Natalie wanted to leave. Normally she would enjoy sitting at the breakfast table with her fellow Ruberagons, but the fight with her sister that morning had put her on edge. She knew someone would be along to undo the leg-locker curse and soon enough Jessica would be after her once more. Still, she would be ready and have a plan of attack.

Lucius’ attention was taken almost entirely by the arrival of Kalika Gardan, it was as if a whole new chapter of their lives was beginning again with this moment. A feeling and a description he would never verbalise, or let anyone else understand in any way. He was like that, and those who really knew him would understand.
Lucius had heard some stories about an Emerindyl whom just happened to have a name similar to… or perhaps identical to that of Kalika. He had chosen not to discuss it though, least of all in present company. He had wondered when Kalika might bring it up with him. He knew if he had had a relative end up in the Emerindyl house, he would not know exactly how to react. Though he knew a lot had happened with Kalika, a lot she didn’t discuss, and he had still to discuss with her the disappearance of her brother Skylar.
Lucius would have smiled at the subtle expression of affection, though again this was not who he was, and Kalika would understand this. Even if no one else would, but then who else really understood Lucius Sinister. He had noticed an increase of this affection in recent times, and had enjoyed it to the extent where he did not question it. Though he knew this might also mean something else was happening and if he had not already been so occupied with… other things; he might have enquired about it… but he hadn’t and probably wouldn’t… probably not for a while.
He watched as Kalika consumed naught but a glass of water and sat in silence. He had noticed her appetite had diminished somewhat, but this did not mean anything to him. He knew a long time ago that the eating habits of females was not a topic he should broach, in particular, it was not a topic he felt important enough to discuss. And not a topic he was particularly interested in.
He listened to Kalika’s comment on the weather, it was light, meaningless and probably only by way of greeting to the other two sitting with them. He was not interested in speaking with Lakasha in the slightest, for a moment he considered dismissing her from his sight, and he did not think it was necessary to let her know he was ok with her failing, simply because he was not. He would have words with her later.
The small talk that ensued from Kalika beginning a conversation was of no interest to Lucius, more so because Lakasha was doing most of the talking and he wondered how one had so much to say when really they had so little to tell. He turned to Kalika ignoring Lakasha altogether, her questions in a nutshell were completely wiped from his mind, “Blood Lust has a live band playing tonight,” he said to her by way of invitation. In person and alone he might have asked her with a lot more intent. Though this was not really an invitation, more notification that something was happening that evening in the pure blood club in Koaltumut. He would invite her out later on that day, this way she would know not to organize anything else.
“Pureblood’s only,” he finished in an approving monotone.

"Yes, the odor permeating around squibs is quite nauseating to say the least... but then again, so it is with dirty-bloods as well." Kalika replied to Lakasha's comments about squibs. After giving what she considered to be ample conversation, Kalika again turned her attentions to the younger girl sitting with them. Normally, she would have ignored the girl as she usually did with anyone whom she deemed of no importance, however today she felt a tad more spiteful then usual.
"Tell me girl, is it your usual custom of not greeting higher-ups as they arrive, or is this a sort of rebellion towards me because of your obvious affections for our dear Lord Sinister?" Kalika asked, her tone was the usual silvery ice and her stare reminded one of a snake. Hypnotizing yet crippling as the hypnosis left a person vulnerable to attacks.
Her grin widened as she finished her question to Natalie. Normally, after starting on one specific person, Kalika would see the taunting to it's end, however today she had bigger fish to fry and would deal with her half-sister before anyone else. Turning to Lucius, Kalika took a sip of her water and her usual grin, turned into a soft smile as she gazed at the boy who had become so familiar to her throughout her time at Koalingo.
"I think going to Blood Lust tonight is a wonderful idea. I need to be a in a strictly pureblooded environment anyway... all the filth running around Koalingo is really rather migraine inducing." Kalika accepted this form of notification, knowing that if it were really an invitation to spend time together Lucius would have more to say then that. Besides, between Lucius and Kalika, invitations to spend time were like showing affection; rarely ever in public and if it were it were masked for formality's sake.

"Speaking of bad smells," Natalie replied to Kalika's insulting words. It had been half a case of not speaking unless spoken to, and half that she was still thinking about the incident with her sister that morning. She was highly irritated and Kalika was not helping. She chose to ignore the comment about her affection towards Lucius. What would she know?
"Perhaps you've been spending too much time in the library, Kalika?" she said with a smirk on her face. Though she wasn't in the habit of being rude to the older girl, she was tired of the attitude she was constantly given. It wasn't that she cared for Kalika's opinion, but it was tiring hearing the same lame insults over and over.
Dropping her fork, she stood up and picked her cloak up from the seat beside her. She would leave before any of the three had a chance to say or do anything to her. Perhaps she would be reprimanded for that later, for Kalika was obviously close to Lucius's heart, but at the present, she couldn't care less. Turning to walk out of the hall, she came face to face with someone she did not expect.

"Oh my god… well if it isn’t the meeting of the… well I don’t suppose I could call any of you minds, as you would be more likened to a single cell organism ignorant to anything else but the blind belief in ones own importance,” Romulus said as his eyes fell on the group before him. He looked up at the girl that had almost just run into him and looked away from her carelessly.
“You could not get anymore pathetically Ruberagon,” Romulus sneered at them and a smile formed from the sneer to one of laughter though he held back from laughing just yet. He hated Ruberagon’s like this, they were so prep.
“And of course, Laydee Gardan, we all like to think we do greet and pay respects to those of positions higher then ourselves, but surely you don’t kid yourself to feel that you are one such being,” he looked from Kalika to Lucius and then to Natalie, standing before him, she looked so much like her own sister it was surprising. Though he knew it was not her, as Jessica did not seem the type for this scene, that and he had just left her fuming in the Ruberagon Commons.
“I’d remain as silent as death Ms Everard,” he used Ms in the sense that he looked upon this useless half of the Everard twins as a spinster, beyond the years of her usefulness and not getting any younger. All the same it might have appeared at this moment that he was standing up for the girl, “Laydee Gardan is about as high as a kite on a day without wind. Or perhaps that’s the problem, too much wind…” He turned to look back at Kalika, “You do look somewhat likened to a wind bag, putting on a bit of weight there my dear?”
“You want to make better choices in a trophy Sinister,” he sneered again at Lucius, still splittingly spiteful, “A trophy is nothing more then a moulded lump of metal if that is what it looks like,” he looked back at Kalika, “A molded lump…” grinning and walked away and began to laugh as he did.

Natalie rolled her eyes at Romulus. He disgusted her, and he was just the sort of guy her idiot sister would go after. She was surprised she hadn't seen Jessica trailing after him already.
Still, though he insulted her, he also did the same to Kalika, several times and she had to hold back a smile. Glancing at the other three Ruberagon's at the table for a moment, she turned and departed the Golden Hall.

"Funny that those two like to spout off useless insults at the mouth and then dash off. Not only pathetic but sad that they have to run off before anyone has a chance to hurt their poor little feelings. But then again if that pitiful speech was what they considered insults then, again, that's sad. However it's to be expected. Only someone truly weak would say something and then run away to avoid confrontation." Kalika grinned and shook her head. She had no time for pathetic little mice like Natalie and Romulus.
Turning to Lakasha, Kalika narrowed her eyes. "You actually keep that ugly fool as your friend? I hope you affiliation with that girl is strictly on an informational basis. Otherwise my opinion of you would most likely lessen if it were an actual friendship you harbored with that pathetic creature." Shaking her head yet again Kalika took another sip of her water. She wondered what exactly would be going on at Blood Lust that night and silently reminded herself to ask Lucius when in private.
"Lucius, I need to have a word with you on a rather important matter. Maybe we should go somewhere to talk..." Kalika gazed at Lucius as she pondered how she would begin telling him of what has happened during the summer and what may happen in the not too distant future.

Lakasha sat back in her chair looking rather affronted; it was one thing for Lucius to be angry with her, at least he had a reason. But she would not take it from Kalika. She was so very close to telling Lucius exactly what he could do with his own ’Pathetic little creature,’ before she pushed her plate away realising that to open her mouth would be to cause issues for herself. She knew she owed nothing to Kalika and her physical appearance of respect for the girl wavered just a little in the wake of her own spite.
“Not that it is any of your business who I deem worthy to be in my presence,” Lakasha started as she folded the napkin she had sitting in her lap and threw it onto the plate of unfinished food she had been picking at, “But Lucius invited her to eat with us, so perhaps you can get your facts right in the future,” Lakasha didn’t feel she needed to argue with Kalika. The two were normally on the best of terms, though Lakasha sometimes felt pity for Kalika. She was always so possessive when it came to Lucius, and it was very tacky indeed.
“I might see you this evening at Blood Lust,” she said directing her voice at Lucius, though she did not mean it by way of friendly farewell to Kalika, it seemed vague enough that Lakasha could feel happy about her contempt towards Kalika, but would know Kalika would not see it as so. Likely the next time she and Kalika crossed paths, things would be as if this had never happened. “Don’t let me interrupt your important discussion,” and with that she too vacated the Golden Hall.

Kalika seemed bored as Lakasha talked. Frankly, she really didn't see the girl as anything more then Lucius' puppet and it was made apparent when she looked right through Lakasha as she spoke. She relished the fact that she still had the ability to make inferiors angry with just a few choice words. and it pleased Kalika that when prodded they showed how weak-minded they could be. After all, who gets angry by meaningless words except the utterly worthless?
Kalika sent away the water she had been sipping at. It was warm by that time and did not seem to even quench her thirst. Thinking over Lakasha's words Kalika smiled a bit. "My facts right? Was I even talking about our meal, now?" She said softly, more as an afterthought then directed at Lucius. Turning to her meal companion, Kalika stated, "I apologize if this meal was a meeting of some sorts, however I do not apologize for the fact that they left. If that little girl and your soldier puppet cannot stand an opinion without getting hurt and leaving then that is entirely up to them, and frankly it shows just how soft and weak their characters really are." Kalika finished her statement knowing that Lucius would know what she was talking about. If a few simple words were enough to hurt them, then what more if they come across someone more devious then she on a mission for Lucius. They would fail miserably.
Kalika also knew that Lucius would know her statement was not an attack on him, but more as a warning about the type of worker bees he has under him. Kalika didn't mention anything about the subject of her important conversation with Lucius. Though Lakasha may have thought she wanted to speak to Lucius then and there, Kalika was no fool. They were in a public place with many people around. Anyone that would talk about really important matters in the Golden Hall was sloppy at best.
