A History
It has come to my attention that there are a lot of you who don’t quite know all the history of Koalingo. And while from time to time I have had people ask me, and in every occasion have been more then happy to tell people about it; I figured it might be better to catalogue it all for you to see so that you know exactly what has happened so far in this magical world and know then how it might affect you. This will also cover the most recent history right up to the point we are at.
Now; it is important to let you all know that I don’t expect you to read this, and it is not a requirement of the website that you do, but by reading it you will be able to maximise your authenticity regarding things about the Manor, the school grounds, the surrounding magical world and beyond. It will be beneficial for you to know this stuff. However I understand a lot of people find this stuff tedious; I too have neglected to motivate interest in reading such information on other websites. But as I say, it will be beneficial.
The information will be broken up into several parts.
Section 1. The Five Founders of Koalingo Academy

I will be adding more later, but let me get this done first. If you have any questions or clarifications please let me know, as I understand a lot of it will come in very useful. But I will ask you to bare with me, as it will take time.

Section One: The Five Founders of Koalingo Academy[/u]
Very few people actually know this but as it will play an integral part to the current plot, after which everyone will know about it, I thought it important to share it all with you. You see; Koalingo Academy was actually founded by five great and noble witches and wizards. Elwyn Emerindyl, Sylvia Saphricorn, Rubeus Ruberagon, Amberley Ameraid, and the one few know about Olympe Oniada.
Few know about Olympe Oniada because ultimately her house never came to be. And so that is what this section will cover. You will find a lot of back-story tied in with each of the founders. Which may or may not serve you and may, at the very least, entertain you. Which is of course the purpose of all stories.
Please read through thoroughly before submitting any questions, as the lives of the founders have intertwined so many times, you may not find something out about one of them without reading the information on the others. So please do your best to read through, and if you still have questions; by all means, forward them to me.
Section 1.a Elwyn Emerindyl[/b]
Section 1.a.i – City of Astilon Section 1.a.ii – Sylvia Saphricorn Section 1.a.iii – Godric Emerindyl Section 1.a.iv – Arutha ConDoin Section 1.a.v – Answer of Eternity Section 1.a.vi – A Personality Section 1.a.vii – A creation of Gemstone Magic
Section 1.a.i - City of Astilon
Very few people actually know a lot about where Elwyn Emerindyl grew up. Being that Elwyn is in fact more then Two Thousand years old, a lot of people wonder what sort of magical empire might have been in place at the time. The answer is of course; none. You see, by the time Elwyn was born the magical empire that had been, which had already been forged from the dawn of time since the splitting of natural forces and the very creation of magic; the magical world was already quite old.
The answer to the dwindling Empire was the city of Astilon. You see in these days the belief was that magic should only be kept as a pure blooded affair, which meant that the magical world did not consort with muggles. After many many years of this being the case, people soon forgot what a muggle was.
The city of Astilon was strong hold of magic, and believably the only magical city left in the world. An unfounded belief of course, but the city had been missing to the rest of the world for so many generations that it disappeared from history and no magical community anywhere knew of its existence. You see the truth was, people didn’t like the monarchy, and it would be easily forgotten in a time of change. Astilon was the home to the shards of the Royal Magical Family. There had not been a king or queen, emperor or empress in many generations. But Lords and Ladies still lived. It was the family Emerindyl who ruled over Astilon. Not the only family with ties to the royal family, but the one in power at the time and the one that had been in power for the longest period so far.
A little known fact is that Elwyn Emerindyl is actually the son of a witch mother and a muggle father. Such things were considered unheard of, inhumane to say the least. You see people of Astilon believed that muggles were something likened to animals. Beasts of the nature, muggles were believed to be feral; untamed, and above all else; dangerous.
The magical peoples of Astilon did not venture beyond the walls of their palace out of fear of being attacked by these beasts. Elwyn’s mother knew better of course and ventured from the fortress quite a lot and soon rumours spread among the elite that there might be something better then the cramped fortress of white marble with very little room to move. By nature magical people are adventurous and curious and soon a couple of people close to Elwyn’s mother went missing.
The powers-that-be at the time were not the royal family relations but a democratic leadership by the name of ‘Duma’ they enforced the laws of Astilon though did not have full control while the families linked with the diminished royal family still existed. As a show of their power, when they discovered Elwyn’s mother had been impregnated they saw this as an opportunity for consolidation. Fortunately though the Emerindyl family had enough allies to be able to make a compromise. And while their daughter was banished to the world of ‘beastly’ muggles beyond the confines of the fortress, the child remained in the fortress and was raised as the son of Lord and Lady Emerindyl.
Elwyn is actually a female name by origin and means “Elf-Friend” though it has been used in the male context four thousand of years, when Elwyn was named it was very much so a feminine name, and one made on purpose. Elwyn’s middle name is Gertrude, again a female name. It is believed that this was done as the whole ordeal of Elwyn only being half blood was kept from everyone, and while many people knew the Emerindyl’s had a daughter, they thought to manipulate this, by making people believe they only thought so because of their “son’s” name. And very quickly, Elwyn’s real mother was forgotten.
Elwyn was brought up mainly by his nanny. His grandparents had nothing to do with his life while he was younger. He never really understood why, in fact, as all who have never experienced anything but; he never actually realised this was strange behaviour. Elwyn schooled as all youngsters of Astilon did, though his primary schooling had very little to do with magic. You see, the thing was, in Elwyn’s youth, he demonstrated no actual magical ability whatsoever. Though this was never thought of as being an issue as many wizards did not began to develop their abilities until their eleventh birthday.
In school though Elwyn would have a friend who would help him when times were rough. Occasionally the students in his grade would comment on his total lack of ability. And so occasionally Elwyn would really try to perform magic, and in these times he always succeeded. Unbeknownst to him though, it was his friend Sylvia Saphricorn who was performing the magic, making it looks like it was him. Elwyn also invented a great deal many ‘magic tricks’, which he used in times when his friends were showing off their own abilities.
The real crunch came when he was to graduate from primary school and begin his higher school training in magic. Presented with his very first wand. Elwyn had merely to demonstrate his abilities by firing sparks from the end of his wand. Unfortunately he failed. The exam was performed in front of all the higher placed wizards and witches in Astilon and the evidence was irrefutable. Elwyn Emerindyl was a half-blood wizard who had no magical power whatsoever. And because of this, he was banished.
When he was banished, Elwyn’s memory was wiped. He didn’t know who he was or where he had come from. The secrets of the white marbled fortress were gone from his mind and he was sent to live with muggles. Muggle of course, as you and I know them, are not at all dangerous. And he quickly fell in with a group of people who were discontent with the way their land was being run. The Duma had been lying to Astilon for years, and while the wizards and witches stayed in their fortress the Duma was running the world beyond, like tyrants. Using their magic to oppress and control.
The people who tool Elwyn in, were soon discovered to be the very witches and wizards who had befriended his mother, and they were working to bring down the Duma and to liberate the people within Astilon from what was very clearly a prison. Here Elwyn met his mother and it was discovered that the reason for Elwyn having no powers was a poison his nanny had been feeding him since birth. His mother informed him though that now he was not receiving the poison, soon enough he would gain back his powers and together they would be able to bring back his memories. She also informed him that his father had been found and murdered when it was discovered that he had impregnated Elwyn’s mother.
Meanwhile, the Duma was looking for Elwyn. They had employed the nanny to betray him so that they could banish him and ultimately retrain him as one of their own and use him against Astilon. They pursued him for quite some time and ultimately caught up with them, only to kill Elwyn’s mother while he was taken and hidden away by the rest of his mother’s companions.
A final assault was planned in the wake of Elwyn’s grief, they were going to take the Duma by storm and liberate Astilon from its prisons. Unfortunately it didn’t quite go this way. Elwyn had been gone from Astilon for a year and things had changed dramatically. Elwyn’s grandmother had died from a mysterious illness and his grandfather had gone missing. The Duma had blamed it on the pretence that Lord Emerindyl had gone out of the fortress to pursue Elwyn, and that the barbaric muggles had killed him and displayed his head on a pike.
This infuriated the peoples of Astilon, and instead of welcoming the rebellion against the Duma, they joined them in the war that would ultimately destroy Astilon. The muggles, with Elwyn at their head stormed the fortress and the wizards replied with magical attacks that killed thousands. And the rebellion was pushed back.
Elwyn and his followers, whom were his mother’s magical friends, had followed him deep into the valley as far from the fortress as they could get. The muggles flew into the mountains and dwelt in caves while the people of Astilon poured out into the valley in search of those magical peoples who would betray them.
Elwyn and his followers moved into the mountains and searched for the creatures of magic so ancient that by comparison Astilon would seem a fleeting thought; Dragons. Elwyn approached their nesting caves. The central area owned by the dragons and was warned back by a young female with golden horns and a glistening emerald snout barring razor sharp fangs. Elwyn did not leave though but sat on a rock outside the entrance and waited. He waited here for five days repeating every hour “My name is Emerindyl, and I seek those who are magic to tame those who are merely magical,” for five days he did not sleep, he did not eat, he did not move but for speaking.
After the fifth day, the dragon introduced herself as Melinda, and told him that she could aid him only if he would make the promise that once the dragons helped him; the valley would be returned to its rightful owners. Being youthful and impulsive, and not understanding what this meant, Elwyn agreed.
The next battle would end all. The dragons flew against Astilon, and the wizards were no match. Elwyn made it into the fortress during the battle and found that his friend Sylvia was waiting for him. She did not fight him but greeted him with open arms.
The fortress fell. But the battle was not over. The dragons herded those who survived, mainly muggles and a few wizards who could suddenly see Elwyn’s resolve. But here they were not freed and the war was not over. The dragons banished them from the valley.
Elwyn did not understand that this would happen. But reflected on the destruction of the valley. Astilon had indeed been destroyed. And so the people left. And have never been allowed to return. Though on occasion, a story is told, the name Astilon is mentioned. And words of a magical school; Astilon Academy. Though Elwyn had never pursued these rumours. And has not been back to Astilon since.
Section 1.a.ii – Sylvia Saphricorn
Elwyn Emerindyl met Sylvia Saphricorn in their youth, and they did spend a lot of time together and developing a friendship which ultimately became more then just a friendship. They spent a lot of time travelling after the downfall of Astilon and ultimately got married and had a son.
Elwyn and Sylvia are the same age and her ability to live for as long as she has been able is due to her ties with Elwyn. She shares what has been called his immortality. Which will be touched on in more detail in [Section 1.a.v]
Elwyn and Sylvia have one son; Godric. And when they are not at Koalingo Academy, they live on Emerindyl Estate, which is located at Coolangatta on New South Wales Central ‘South’ Coast.
They have been married for longer then most books can record a history. More information on Sylvia Saphricorn can be found in [Section 1.b]
Section 1.a.iii Godric Emerindyl[/b]
Godric Emerindyl is the one and only child of Elwyn Emerindyl and Sylvia Saphricorn. He was born a very long time ago, though is currently only seventeen years old. A lot of this is involved in the current plot, and not everyone knows about it, so I thought I would let you all know anyway just so a few things make sense. The big question of the current plot is “Why, when Godric was born over two hundred years ago, is he now only seventeen?”
The answer of course should not be read unless you don’t mind the questions being answered before they become questions in the current Koalingo Story. So if you would rather read the story then perhaps you should not read only just skip this section. If you would like to know anyway, then by all means move onto the next paragraph.
Godric Emerindyl was actually born in 1788 A.D. Though when he was born, it was to a loving mother and father. In these days Elwyn and Sylvia had been running Koalingo for close to eight hundred years. They were only adjusting to being parents when the sparks of their youthfulness and spontaneity kicked in. Lady Saphricorn had always been something of an animal rights activist. And a message was sent to hear that the Unicorn herds of some far distant country were being poached. Being an activist, and being that at this time Unicorn hunting and domestication was not made illegal in all countries. Lady Saphricorn bid farewell to her husband and newborn child in the promise of returning soon. Unfortunately she did not return.
Overcome with grief, Elwyn found that he was incapable of caring for his son and for a brief time the child was cared for by the school nurse. Pang’s of guilt from a childhood where he was not cared for by blood but by a traitorous nanny. Elwyn found that this was an unacceptable way for his son to grow up. Likewise though, he was not prepared to be the father he needed to be. And so he pooled together his resources and magically locked Godric in stasis.
In this stasis Godric was not living, nor was he dead. He did not need for anything and so did not really exist in the eyes of his father. Elwyn had long ago created what is referred to as Gemstone Magic [Section 1.a.vii]. Godric was locked in stasis into a gemstone, which Elwyn fixed to a gold chain and hung around his neck for protection.
Many year passed, Elwyn searched for his wife for two hundred years and nothing could be found. No hints, no stories, no body. It wasn’t until 1988 A.D when Elwyn finally gave in to the realisation that he would never see his wife again. By this time, Elwyn was the soul remaining founder of the original five. He brought his son out of stasis, and Godric has been aging ever since. In a normal fashion whereby currently Godric Emerindyl is a seventh year Emerindyl House student who is looking at graduating at the end of the current year.
Section 1.a.iv – Arutha ConDoin
A lot of this was decided upon with the help of Joh Lindley; a friend of mine who used to host the school and had a lot to do with its development while the site was establishing itself some years ago now. I don’t remember a lot of it in great detail. Though I will attempt to re-write it to the best of my knowledge, adding some more information as to what happened to Arutha ConDoin and why he is no longer working in the school.
Arutha ConDoin was a student of Elwyn Emerindyl’s who was always fascinated in the Dark Arts. Back in the times with Lord Rubeus Ruberagon II was still thought to be something of an Australian Voldemort; Arutha ConDoin was very much so interested in becoming one of his followers. Though as no one knew where Rubeus Ruberagon II was, or how one would become one of his supporters. Arutha fell in with the next best thing; The Guild of Avada [More information on the Guild of Avada can be found in Section 3]
Arutha fell in with the Guild and had a lot to do with them for several years. Though after this time he found that he came to disagree with a lot of what the Guild stood for, and was soon very interested with disassociating himself from them. One does not simply leave the Guild of Avada of course and so he sought the assistance of Elwyn Emerindyl, who’s first impulse was to lock away Arutha ConDoin and throw away the key. He chose not to however.
After years of being an office clerk for Elwyn, Arutha built the trust of the Headmaster of Koalingo Academy and soon became a teacher. His subject was Defence Against Dark Arts, and after many years of service, he eventually became the Head teacher of the House of Ruberagon, and the Deputy Headmaster. And this remained this was for several years longer.
When the founders returned seven years ago, it became apparent that there was no longer a need for a Deputy Headmaster and so Arutha ConDoin moved on to the Australian Magical Military and has remained there since, rising through the ranks, he is a General and lives in Albury with his wife Galidan and their son Arthur, who is currently a seventh year Ruberagon student at Koalingo and due to his father’s position in the military, goes under the alias of Arthur Hawkings.
